Junior Industrial Project Manager
Location: Limelette, BelgiumFull-time positionLhoist is a world leader in the extraction and production of lime and limestone. The company is a privately owned Group employing over 6,400 people worldwide with 100 production sites in Western and Eastern Europe, in the USA, in Asia and in Latin America.The products are used in a wide variety of traditional and emerging applications because of their chemical and physical properties. The clients range from iron and steel, environment, chemicals, agriculture and forestry to construction, civil engineering, and pulp and paper.Over the last few decades, the Group has progressively acquired genuine international status, with most of the international growing occurring in Europe, the US, and Brazil – largely through acquisitions.Expansion plans are currently also being pursued in other parts of the world, involving both organic and external developments.We are currently looking for a Junior Industrial Project Manager. He/She will provide engineering and project management expertise and support to Lhoist’s industrial investment projects.The position is based at the Group headquarter in Limelette (Belgium). Worldwide travel is expected to be about 20 % of the time in average.Reporting to the Corporate Engineering Director, the Junior Industrial Project Manager will:Reinforce the implementation and exchange of engineering and project management best practices in and across the Regions/Divisions, to improve the management of the four key elements of a project: safety / quality / cost / timing aligned with business objectives;Contribute to the development of selected projects in existing or new geographies, from the concept design to the project approval by the Investment Committee (CIC), i.e., prior to the project executionHe/She will work within a multidisciplinary team.Main responsibilities:Promote and develop new project management/engineering processes and tools as defined in the Industrial Project Management procedure.Ensure scope understanding and alignment with business needs and stakeholders Define/Supervise the front-end engineering for selected industrial projectsFoster Design, Safety and more generally Capex optimization (Value Engineering) during project reviewsGenerate own insights and recommendations to further optimize reliability, quality and costs of the projectProduce and/or validate the documents required for the cost estimateAssess the required staffing and project risks during the design, and execution phasesManage directly small to mid-size projectsEvaluate site conditions, through site visits, tie-ins in general, and other items that could impact the project design and constructabilityDevelop in-house concepts (modular approach) for specific workshopsThe Junior Project Manager needs to be innovative and creative in managing Engineering, and industrial projects.Competencies and experiences:Teamwork and communicationsStrong team playerAble to work with both internal and external partnersBring experience and successful track record in team dynamicsCope constructively with diverging objectives, contribute to create alignment in a teamAble to communicate with a variety of stakeholders (blue collar upper management, contractors…)Full verbal and written skills in English Experience and skillsQuick learner with high level of curiosity, open minded, easy to adaptStrong analytical, planning, and organizational skillsHas and know how to use an international networkDemonstrate a global mindset through successful assignment in international projectsIdentify pro-actively main leavers to optimize the project TCOUnderstand business processes and interdependencies between Capex project and businessUnderstand financials key performance indicators in place, e.g., ROCE, EBITDA and FCF, enabling capital expenditure management aligned with business conditions or expectations. Education and backgroundSolid technical academic background with a Master degree in Engineering (or equivalent)3 to 5 years of experience in similar medium to large size businesses with the emphasis on a multi-site and international environmentExperience in industries in the field of mining industry, cement, glass, ceramic or steel, to name a few. A similar experience built in engineering consulting groups would also be relevant.
