Stantec International Development, based in La Hulpe (south Brussels), is the Stantec unit that provides consulting services to international institutions, such as the European Commission (EC), the European Investment Bank (EIB), the World Bank, and EU bilateral donors such as DFID, or AFD. We support international donors and financial institutions improve the design, implementation, and oversight of development programs throughout the world. We help developing countries achieve resilient and equitable growth, transition to lower carbon economies, and protect water and other natural resources. Your role You will be supporting the Head of Stantec’s Center of Expertise in Sustainable Energy (CoE SE) in its development by performing various tasks from knowledge management ( desk research, training preparation) to active support of internal experts working on energy projects. You will be required to demonstrate a combination of quantitative skills, flexibility, and precision in all tasks. Responsibilities 1.\tWork hand in hand with Stantec’s Head of CoE SE to support Stantec BE operational teams throughout ongoing activities: \tOperational support: Participate to CoE SE’s support to business development activities related to energy project proposals ( by contributing to technical methodology drafting and/or review). Participate to CoE SE’s support to project management teams ( by participating to energy project reports technical reviews). When needed, support internal experts on assignment to perform various tasks (report drafting, desk research, etc.) \tKnowledge creation: Develop factsheets/documents/slide packs on specific topics ( hydrogen value chain, brief note on carbon pricing in Europe, etc.) to provide experts with ready to use content on projects Support Stantec’s Head of CoE SE in creating new internal trainings on various topics ( introduction to the energy transition, energy landscape in Africa) 2.\tLead the creation of a knowledge management database: To support business development and project management teams in efficiently tapping into past and ongoing projects information and knowledge: Define with Stantec’s Head of CoE SE the database role, structure, and corresponding characteristic Select the most appropriate tool for its creation ( MS Access, etc.) Populate the database with extensive review of past project information structure, location, and content. Title: Traineeship for the Int. Development Unit – Center of Expertise Energy Qualifications: Requirements You have an academic degree in Engineering, (Energy) Economics or political science, with strong interest in the energy transition and sustainability. Professional/Academic experience in the field of energy or in a similar technical assistance environment would be considered as an asset. You have strong analytical skills, are able to synthesize various data into concepts and derive key conclusions which you can assertively present and defend. Knowledge of the European Commission external assistance policies would be considered as an advantage. Languages: solid written and spoken English. Knowledge of French would be considered as an asset. IT-skills: advanced use of MS Office tools. Any knowledge of / past experience with database software would be a must. Multitask personality, rigorous, accuracy and attention to detail, with a dynamic work ethic approach. Creative, communicative, open-minded and results oriented. Employment Type: Full-Time
